Welcome to the 2020 juried Photography + Media student show at Alexandria.

Our annual juried exhibit normally hangs in the AFA gallery each Spring. Any student enrolled in a PHT class at Alexandria during the past year may each enter up to four works, which are selected by an outside juror who also chooses certain students to receive a cash award in recognition of their overall achievement.

When the campus was closed due to Covid-19 this year, the show was postponed and reinvented as a virtual event. 42 students submitted 152 digital files, from which the juror selected 62 pieces for an online exhibit, presented here.

We were very pleased to have Nate Larson as our juror this year. He chairs the Photography Department at MICA / Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, and his projects have been exhibited nationally and internationally. Nate's thoughtfulness as an artist and educator is reflected in his selection of our students’ work for the exhibit and juror’s awards.

We wish to recognize the exceptional effort students made under difficult circumstances this year. Photography is a vital means of communication and expression for our students, and we hope that the works in this show will help us all through our difficult times together.
